Celebrate the Year of the Tiger: Chinese New Year

January 31, 2022

Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival, is the most important time of the year for the Chinese. Celebrations usually last 16 days, from New Year's Eve to the 15th day of the New Year – the Lantern Festival. In 2022, Chinese New Year is 1 February and China’s public holiday will be from 31 January to 6 February.

Each Chinese New Year is characterised by one of 12 animals which appear in the Chinese zodiac. It is divided into 12 blocks (or houses) just like its western counterpart, but with one major difference – each house has a time length of one year instead of one month.

2022 is the Year of the Water Tiger. The Tiger is considered to be brave, cruel, forceful and terrifying, and is the symbol of power and lordliness in Chinese culture. In ancient times, people usually compared emperors or kings with tigers. The Chinese zodiac Tiger sign entitles people born in the Year of the Tiger to be natural leaders. They are adventurous, ambitious and have a strong sense of justice, but may be also a little arrogant and impetuous.

Recent Years of the Tiger are 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998 and 2010.

Lucky things for Tigers:

Unlucky things for Tigers:

A Tiger is brave, passionate, optimistic and loves challenge and adventure. However, they can be rebellious, overconfident, stubborn and emotional.

Most Tiger men are optimistic and ambitious at work. They are not satisfied with the status quo and strive for excellence. Even when encountering difficulties, the Tiger will not give up easily and just carry on.

Tiger women are good at taking care of family members. They are loved by children and can always get along well with them by playing games and telling stories. They enjoy life, and you may find them at parties and outdoor activities. Rather than being alone, they prefer to be with people.

It is not easy for singles to start dating in 2022. They need to be more tolerant. Married couples should take extra care of their partner, especially their emotions.

Most compatible with a Tiger: Generally speaking, Tigers can get along well with people in signs of the Horse, Dog or Pig, who can be the best partners in their marriage life, and their relationship will be sweet and everlasting.

Least compatible with a Tiger: Unfortunately, people in signs of the Ox, Snake, Goat or Monkey will conflict with each other in their zodiac compatibility. Life will be a tragedy for both of them.

Tigers present different personalities and character traits according to various elements. In Chinese culture, all the things are composed of the five elements including Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.

What type of Tiger are you?

As Tigers are born leaders, they have excellent organisation and communication skills, and thus becoming a successful politician will be less difficult for them compared to others. Besides the ability to lead, they are also confident and fearless in the face of challenge, with lower levels of anxiety, so adventurers and bankers are among the best jobs for Tigers.

Adult Tigers are healthy and energetic. However the effects of overworking will gradually show, especially as digestive and respiratory problems. Long-term stress may also cause some disorders, and so it is advised to take regular exercise and keep a balanced diet.

As 2022 is a Tigers’ Ben Ming Nian (Zodiac Year of Birth), they are not blessed with too much good fortune according to Chinese astrology. To get through this not very lucky year, they are advised to be cautious in many aspects of life – to speak less and do more. They should be very cautious in the workplace this year. Avoid making mistakes and work hard.

People born in the year of the Tiger are highly advised to spend money thriftily this year, otherwise their salary may fail to cover their bills. Do not rely on investment for extra income, because it sees no sign of success.

People who go to school tend to have a good academic outlook because they are more motivated, manage their time well and work harder. They are able to improve their abilities with their studies.

Testimonials

"I enjoyed learning how to deal with situations emerging from cultural differences within the USA (dialects, accents). Some really helpful insight into the American mind-set, especially business life. Also, the ability to phrase things in a way that US clients understand. Now I understand that there are some things here in the EU that US citizens never use so cannot understand."

"I have been having regular lessons for a couple of weeks now and the lessons are going really well. I need to study some more on my own is the only thing! But the lessons are really good - fast paced and challenging (in a good way). The tutor is really supportive so it's good and I feel like I am learning a lot!"
