We have worked with our client since 1998 and during this time they have grown to be a global engineering and sustainable development consultancy with a focus on the built environment. In the UK, they are a team of over 6000 people, across 17 offices, covering more than 90 technical specialisations. A significant number of their headcount in the UK are international experts, for whom English is not their native language.
As their Preferred Supplier, we provide tailored online Business English language courses.
Typically, courses focus on improving fluency for presenting – firstly for presenting at large technical forums with clients and secondly contributing successfully to internal meetings. Our training allows participants to focus on speaking with good intonation, using correct vocabulary and grammar, boost their confidence for communicating ideas effectively, help them produce continuous speech without long pauses or hesitations and use techniques for controlling/managing native English speakers who may interrupt. We also focus on written tasks such as summarising, paraphrasing or minute-taking in order that a variety of their writing methods are also reviewed.
Our programme caters to a range of learning preferences by providing both one-to-one sessions and group classes. Group lessons promote collaboration and the sharing of knowledge, particularly useful for teams working on international projects.
To accommodate the client's global operations and employees’ varying schedules, we offer flexible online training options that are scheduled around each learner’s other professional commitments, allowing employees to connect with their tutors from any location and at times convenient to them.
While the primary focus of the programme was to strengthen English language skills for non-native speakers, we also offer instruction in other languages, such as French, German, Spanish etc., to meet the client's diverse linguistic needs. The content of each course is customised to the individual or team, whether they needed conversational fluency, formal business communication skills, or technical language related to their specific roles.
With an ongoing relationship that spans several years, we have provided thousands of training hours across multiple locations and time zones. Our approach is highly flexible in terms of scheduling, allowing employees to develop their language skills alongside their professional responsibilities. Regular assessments and progress tracking are integral to our method, ensuring that learners are continuously advancing towards their language goals.
